A Rain Sensor detects rain, snow, or hail using a sensing pad with exposed copper traces that change resistance based on water presence. More water lowers resistance and increases conductivity, while less water raises resistance. The sensor outputs a voltage corresponding to this change, which can be digitized using an LM393 comparator and connected to a microcontroller (like Arduino) to automate actions such as closing windows or shutters when rain is detected.
